This week we will be focusing on shapes. The shapes we are looking at are circle, square, triangle and rectangle.
You can use this sheet to practice with a pencil and then ask your child to draw the shapes using their finger in the air.

Here is a firework matching shape activity you can do with your child. Matching the shapes circle, square, triangle and rectangle. You can ask your child what shape they need to put down to match the other shape.

If you have any jigsaw puzzles at home that would be a great activity to do with your child and will support your child's fine motor skills.

This is a number activity you can try at home. You can write a number on a leaf and ask your child to attach the correct number of pegs onto the leaf. This will support your child's understanding of numbers and quantity and also support their fine motor skills.
Here is another fun number activity you can try with your child. Place a piece of spaghetti onto some play dough and ask your child to place pasta through the spaghetti. Your child can count how many pieces of pasta they put on, arrange coloured pasta to make patterns and can count the pasta when they take it off. This activity will also support your child's fine motor skills.

With this lovely weather we have been getting, you can make an ice cream activity with your child. Number the cones and ask your child to place the correct amount of scoops of ice cream (circles or stickers) on top of the cone.
Using water or jelly you can place numbers into it and using tongs, spoons or fingers ask your child to collect numbers out of the water or jelly and ask your child what number they have picked. You can then ask your child to find certain numbers.

To have a try at recognising the number 6 and its quantity you can play a game with your child where you ask them to have a try at rolling a dice, ask them to count the number of spots out and keep rolling the dice until they get to the number 6. Once they have rolled a 6 they need to find 6 objects in the house.
You can also have a try at making the number 6 using playdough. This will encourage your child to recognise the number and also support your child's fine motor skills.

Week 3
This week we will be focusing on the number 5. Ask your child if they can count to 5. Then together with your child count to 5 using your fingers.

This weeks song is 5 currant buns. You can role play with your child and use some food or role play food and pretend to have 5 current buns. Count the 'buns' out and ask your child to buy one at a time then count how many are left each time.

To support your child with recognising the number five you can draw the number five on a piece of paper and then you can ask your child to pick out 5 pieces of craft or stickers to place over the number 5.

Here is another great counting activity you can do with your child. Using cupcake cases write numbers inside and ask your child to fill them up with the correct number of pom poms, lego or small pieces of craft.
You could even try using some tongs to support your child's fine motor skills.

You can role play a teddy bears picnic with your child and count how many teddy bears have joined in.
You can have a try at making teddy bear rice crispy cakes. You can count how many ears they need, how many eyes and nose. Then you can ask your child to count how many they have made altogether.
