The end of the year is here, and Year 6 finished in spectacular style with the prom on Wednesday evening. A great time was had by all! The children have enjoyed a couple of days spending time with friends and saying goodbye, getting ready for the next step in their journeys. Have a cracking summer, everyone - well done!
Year 6 had the great privilege of singing at the Citizenship Ceremony at the Civic Centre this afternoon. It is the third time that our school has been invited back to provide the choir for this event, and the children were a credit to Waverley and to themselves once again. It was a wonderful event, with people from over a dozen countries coming together to join the British community. The singing, needless to say, was beautiful, and the guests and officials present were full of praise. Well done, everyone!
Sports Day 2019! Year 6 competed with the rest of KS2 in a range of events this afternoon, from egg and spoon to a sprint relay. The children were brilliant, and the sun shone magnificently! A great day to showcase the children's ongoing development and team spirit, as well as Waverley's beautiful setting.
Year 6 had a fantastic time at Gibside today, joining children from across the OWL Trust for a transition event to remember. Nerves and shyness dissolved as next year's Year 7 pitched in together for activities ranging from den building to forest art to orienteering to the low ropes course. Everyone had a fantastic time, and there will certainly be more familiar faces in the high school corridors when September comes around! Well done everyone - a great day.
