Week 2
What a busy week we have had. First we received an ice cream from vision for education for sitting our SATs. Then it was sports day thank you to everyone who turned up to support the children. Next we received a letter from Paddington asking us to help write the recipe for his marmalade sandwiches. In science we created practical bar charts to show the difference in shoe size between year 2 and year 6. Finally on Friday we looked at the artist Eva Rothschild and we made sculptures out of marshmallows and cocktail sticks.
Week 2 -13th - 17th June 2022
Wow what a busy week we have had. It started off with Sports day on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who came to watch and support the children. I’m sure you could tell we all had a great time. Just before sports day we had a treat from Vision for Education. Bob the ice cream man came down and Vision treated us to an ice cream for sitting our SATs. You can tell from the pictures that we all enjoyed this.
In Science we made a bar chart to show the difference in shoe size between year 2 and year 6. We were shocked that some children in year 6 feet were nearly the same size as ours. We discussed why we thought this was. The children had a great time creating a visual bar chart.
On Wednesday we received a very special letter from Paddington. He had lost his marmalade sandwich recipe and needed our help. Before we could write the recipe Paddington said we have to try and make them first he delivered everything that we needed to the office. We discussed bossy verbs (imperative verbs). We then had to taste them to make sure that Paddington would like them!
Finally on Friday we looked at the artist Eva Rothschild. She makes abstract sculptures using various materials. We tried to make sculptures using marshmallows and cocktail sticks.
Week 1 - 7th - 10th June
This week in English we have read Katie Morag. We have looked at where the Isle of Struay is on a map and described what can be done there. We have described Katie Morag ensuring that we used adjectives in our sentences. In Maths this week we have finished off our topic on Fractions. We have learnt about unit and non-unit fractions and have begun to count fractions.
In Science this half term we are looking at animals including humans. We started off by looking at the life cycle of a human and what changes as we grow older. In History this half term we are looking at Kings and Queens. We started off by completing a timeline of the Kings and Queens, using the dates to help us.
We have had a lovely first week back after half term.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
