Summer 2

EYFS Sports Morning

Today Nursery and Reception joined together for a fun Sports Morning. The sun was shining for us as we had a 'balance a quoit on your head' race, a bean bag toss, an egg and spoon race,  a running race and a welly wang.

We all had great fun and lots of children came 1st, 2nd or 3rd several times.

Week beginning July 5th

It was lovely to have most children back to school last week and this week we have lots of fun activities planned.

Week beginning June 14th

This week is Literature Week at Waverley and we have lots of fun activities planned.

We had a friend of Mrs Sample's from Darlington Railway Museum who came to read us a story about steam trains.

Mr Garrod came to Reception this morning to teach us the poem Happy Thought by Robert Louis Stevenson.

We have been writing in shaving foam, under tables and with candles. We have written on boxes, in speech bubbles and talked about the importance of knowing our own address.

We watched The Dot by Peter Reynolds to encourage us to use our imagination.

We wrote our own animal poems and wrote a Book about Me. It has been such a fun and busy week and there is still so much fun to be had!

Week beginning Tuesday June 8th

Welcome back after our lovely, sunny half term break. I hope you all enjoyed a well deserved break.

Our mini topic this week is How Long is a Piece of String? This topic fits well with our Maths block on Length and Height.

Our texts this week will focus on Titch by Pat Hutchins. We will also be watching episodes of Titch such as

You’ll Soon Grow Into Them, Titch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrpOgXGqcww (10.12 mins)

In Maths we will be using multilink bricks to support our block on non-standard measure.
