Week beginning 12th July
This week we begin our new mini topic of 'We're all going on a summer holiday'.
We will be exploring different places we could go on a holiday such as the beach, a swimming pool, a caravan, the farm.
In Literacy we will be reading Sunny Day by Mick Manning and Brita Granstrom.
In Maths this week we will be recapping some of the different things that we have learnt over the past few months.
We will be continuing to look at positional language whilst revisiting weight, capacity and matching numeral and quantity.
EYFS Sports Morning
Today Nursery and Reception joined together for a fun Sports Morning. The sun was shining for us as we had a 'balance a quoit on your head' race, a bean bag toss, an egg and spoon race, a running race and a welly wang.
We all had great fun and lots of children came 1st, 2nd or 3rd several times.
Week beginning 5th June 2021
This week we continue on with our topic of 'All Around the World', stopping off in Australia.
We will be learning all about Australia and looking at some of the different animals that live there.
In Maths this week we will be learning about Positional Language. We will be using objects to explore positions and will be using the language in, on, under, next to, behind and between to describe the different positions.
Week beginning 28th June
This week we will start our new topic of All Around the World. First stop on our world tour is Africa.
In Literacy we will be reading the story Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne.
In Maths this week we will continuing to explore capacity and using different materials to fill up various sized containers. We will be focusing on the language empty, half full and full.
Week beginning 21st June
This week we are continuing with our topic of People who help us.
In Literacy we will be saying and hearing the initial sounds in different job roles e.g.
p= police officer, f= firefighter. We will also be practising writing these sounds independently, using the letter rhymes to help us.
In Maths we will be exploring capacity and using water to fill up different containers. We will be focusing on using the mathematical language of full, half full and empty when describing the containers. We will also be practising our counting and number recognition skills.
Week beginning 14th June
This week is Literature Festival at Waverley and we have lots of fun, exciting activities planned.
A friend of Mrs Sample's came all the way from Darlington Railway Museum to read us a story about steam trains. Mr Garrod came to teach us a lovely poem which we all really enjoyed.
We have been practising our writing skills in lots of different ways. We have been writing in shaving foam, under the tables and even on the tables! We have written on different sized boxes, in speech bubbles and made fantastic collages of our names.
We completed our own animal poem and wrote a book All About Me which was all about our favourite things.
It has been such a busy week but we have had lots of fun!!
Week beginning 7th June
Welcome back! I hope you have had a lovely, restful half term.
This week our topic is People who help us. We will be learning about different job roles and how they help us and other people. We will also be exploring the vehicles they have to help them in their jobs and the different equipment they might need.
In Maths this week we will be beginning to explore Weight.
We will be comparing a range of objects and determining which object is the heaviest. We will be focusing on the language heavy, heaviest, light and lightest.
