Spring 2

Week beginning 4th April

This week we have been learning all about Easter! We have made Easter cards, decorated Easter eggs and even made chocolate crispy Easter nests...which were so yummy!

We have read the stories We’re going on an egg hunt and Peter Rabbit’s Three Little Bunnies.

We have worked so hard this half term and are ready for a fun Easter break! 

 

Week beginning 28th March

 

This week we have been learning about England and our city of Newcastle. We have looked at the different landmarks around Newcastle and found the Tyne Bridge especially interesting.

We read the story Night Night Newcastle, which we all loved!

In Phonics this week we have learnt the letter sound 'k'. 

 

In Maths we have been learning all about number 6! We have been doing lots of counting out to 6 and representing numbers 1-6 in different ways.

We have also enjoyed lots of other activities this week. In Artographics we rolled Easter eggs in paint to create an abstract piece of art. We have also enjoyed using the blocks to build our own versions of the Tyne Bridge. 

Week beginning 21st March

 

This week in Nursery we have continued with our topic of Here, There and Everywhere.

Our book of the week has been Handa's Hen by Eileen Browne which we have all enjoyed reading.

We have also been creating some wonderful pieces of African Sunset art work, using careful brush strokes.

In Phonics this week we have learnt the letter sound 'c'. We have now learnt m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o and c!

 

In Math's we have been consolidating our understanding of number 5. We have also been singing lots of number songs to help us with our counting; 5 currant buns is a firm favourite! 

Week beginning 14th March

We have had another super week in Nursery! 

Forest School on Tuesday was so much fun! We hunted for Jungle Animals, made them a new home and even saved them from being frozen in the ice! 

We have read Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne in Literacy this week. We drew picture's of gifts of food we would like to take our friends. We have also been doing lots of fantastic letter writing.

In Phonics we have learnt letter sound 'o' and used the rhyme 'all around the orange' to help us to write it correctly.

 

In Maths we have been introduced to number 5! We have been finding 5 around the classroom, writing it and counting out to 5 using a range of different objects.

Week beginning 7th March

This week we have met Goldilocks and the Three Bears in our Literacy lessons. We have drawn our own characters from the story and even tried Mummy Bear, Daddy Bear and Baby Bear's porridge!

We have learnt letter sound 'g' in Phonics this week and have completed some super letter writing. We have now learnt sounds m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p and g.

In Maths this week we have been consolidating our understanding of number 4. We have enjoyed exploring and counting out to 4. 

Next week we have Forest School on Tuesday 15th (morning). Please send your child to school in their wellies and put their trainers in a bag to change into after Forest School.

Week beginning 28th February

What a busy first week back to Nursery we have had!

This week we began our new topic called Once upon a Fairy Tale. We met the Three Little Pigs during out Literacy sessions this week and have really enjoyed reading the story.

In Phonics this week we have learnt the letter sound 'p'.

We have also celebrated Pancake Day on Tuesday with some yummy pancakes, chocolate spread and strawberry jam!

 

In Maths we have been introduced to number 4! We have been learning how to represent and write 4.
