After an epic, thrilling journey from the detention cells of Spectrum Hall across the Quarantine Zone to the streets of Premium, we have come to the end of 'The Last Wild'! The children have absolutely loved it, and it has been a pleasure to read and write about. We've also linked in our geography, computing and science with the book this half-term. Below is a gallery of the original OS-style maps that the children created; mapping a fictional world is no easy feat, but they have created some superb examples!
Today, the children took their original scripts to the stage in magnificent fashion! Some really memorable and brilliantly delivered performances - everyone should be very proud! :-)
It's been a truly outstanding week in Year 6! We have been tackling the full breadth of the curriculum with great enthusiasm. The children have been engaged in map-making in geography, fungi-seeking and mould-cultivating in science, scriptwriting and performance in English, digital world-building in computing, and area calculation in maths. Some brilliant work in all areas. It's brilliant to see everyone bouncing back from the lockdown so energetically! See the gallery below for some images from across the week.
As part of our English work this week, we've begun looking at script writing. After studying an example, the children had a go at drafting a script for a scene of their choice. We had everything from Star Wars to Peppa Pig, and the results were superb! Some serious potential screenwriting talent in the room 😁
We're back, everyone! It's been fantastic to have the whole class in together this week, and what a week we've had! From reflecting on our recent experiences and our dreams for the future, to classifying the plant life in the school garden, to investigating fractions of (hypothetical!) chocolate bars, we've had a brilliant time and really moved our learning forward. We've also been taking on roles in some 'Last Wild' drama, building 3D digital worlds in computing, and getting active with Miss Cowling. I'm looking forward to next week already! :-)
