Week beginning 14th February
What a lovely last week of term we have had in Nursery! The children have been working super hard and have impressed both Mrs Dickinson and myself with their phonic and number knowledge.
We have continued on with our topic of Zoom Zoom Zoom We're going to the Moon. We have enjoyed learning about the Solar System and all the different planets. We became scientists and completed an experiment called 'Bubbling Planets' where we made our own version of planets Earth and Mars and used different ingredients to make them bubble!
In Maths this week we have consolidated our learning of numbers 1, 2 and 3. We are becoming amazing at recognising and representing each number!
In Phonics we have explored letter sound 'n'. We have been practising writing the letter using the rhyme to help us
"down Nobby and over his net".

Week beginning 7th February
This week we have had a very busy week in Nursery. On Tuesday we had Forest School with Miss Cowling. We had so much getting muddy and practising our digging and climbing skills. We also got to toast Marshmallows on the fire and enjoy some yummy hot chocolate.
We have began our final topic of the half term this week

We have read the story Aliens love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.
We been working so hard on our letter sounds in phonics and Literacy. We have learnt letter sound 'i' this week and have been practising saying and writing it. We have completed some excellent letter writing of all of our learnt sounds.
In Maths this week we have been furthering our understanding of the number 3. We have been identifying different ways to show 3.
Week beginning 31st January
This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have learnt how Chinese New Year is celebrated around the world and the different things that people do to get ready for their celebrations.
We have read the story Dim Sum for Everyone by Grace Lin.
In Phonics this week we have been learning the letter sound 't'. We have now learnt m, a, s, d and t. We have used the rhyme "down the tower, across the tower" to help us form our letter t correctly.
In Maths we have been exploring number 3. We have been counting out to 3 and finding different ways to show 3.
Week beginning 24th January
This week concludes our topic of Books Glorious Books!
Our chosen book this week will be Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen.
In Phonics we will be recapping the letter sounds we have previously learnt. Those sounds are m, a, s, d. We will be practising forming each letter, using the rhymes to help us as well as matching objects to their correct initial letter sound.
In Maths this week we will be consolidating our knowledge around the number 2. We will continue to represent the number in a variety of ways.
Week beginning 17th January
This week in Literacy we will be exploring the letter sounds that we have learnt in phonics, which are m, a, s and d. We will be practising forming each of the letters and as well as matching each sound to objects which begin with each initial sound.
We will be reading the story Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and completing lots of fun craft activities based around the story.
In Maths this week we will be introduced to number 2. We will be exploring how we can represent 2 in lots of different ways.
Week beginning 10th January
This week in Nursery we will be reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will be completing lots of different activities based around the story.
In Maths this week we will be furthering our understanding of Number 1. We will be matching numeral and quantity and representing 1 in different ways including writing the number.
Reading books have been sent out this week. Please read with your child at least once a week and comment in their reading record. Each book sent home has a question sheet to go alongside. Please return both the book and question sheet to school on a Thursday. Books will be changed and handed back out on a Friday.
Week beginning 3rd January
The children have had a fab first week back in Nursery. They have been super busy completing lots of different activities. We have started our first topic of the term Books Glorious Books! Over the next few weeks we will be exploring some of our favourite story books. This week we have read the story We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen.
This week we have also started RWI Phonics. During our Phonics sessions we will begin to learn the set 1 sounds.
In Maths this week the children have started to explore the number 1. We have been learning what 1 represents and how we can represent the value of 1 in different ways.
