We've been getting fractions-tastic in Year 4 this week, and Numicon has proven to be brilliant for establishing those number relationships. Some stellar progress across the class.
This week, our focus in maths has been the calculation of area. The children began exploring the concept by establishing how many sticky notes were required to cover a given surface. Some of the subjects for testing were quite novel!
This week, the Year 4G classroom has become a research hub! The children having been working independently and in groups to find out about robots, then share and record their knowledge. From this, we've planned some brilliant non-chronological reports that are just beginning to shape up! Looking forward to some outstanding writing next week.
What a week! We've had some fantastic participation and learning from Year 4, with electrical experimentation, sensational watercolour art, and a very moving interview with an independent charity worker who has been supporting refugees in the Greek islands. This linked powerfully with our work on 'The Wild Robot'. A real week to remember!
Happy New Year, everyone! Year 4 have got back into maths with great enthusiasm following the Christmas break. We have been exploring partitioning in multiplication, and competing in a factors and multiples game online. It's been quite heated! The whole class said they felt a lot more confident with the concept of factors by the end of the week.
