Today: Osborne House!
We spent the day at Queen Victoria’s beloved Isle of Wight residence, touring the house itself (including the beautiful Durbar Room, the extraordinary art collection that Victoria and Albert amassed, and the bedroom where Victoria passed away in 1901), the Swiss Cottage so enjoyed by the royal children, and the beach at the foot of the estate. Perhaps the highlight was our workshop with the austere ‘Mrs Pilkington’, who taught the children some alarming lessons about the rigours of a life in domestic service in the 19th century! It was a fascinating day, and the Italian Renaissance-style architecture of the house was dazzling in the blazing sun!
The fun wasn’t over, as we still had laser tag and a disco to come! The children had a terrific time dashing around in the giant soft play with their laser tag teams and dancing to some modern classics. We had some great high scores from the children, and some dubious dance moves from the staff! Another amazing day.
