Autumn 2

Friday 17th December

The UKS2 Christmas Party this year was an absolute classic! Some hilarious games were played (with the children displaying a scary talent for musical statues...), and the forfeits produced some timeless performances! Great fun, everyone. Merry Christmas!

WB: 6.12.21

We have had a lovely Christmas Craft Day this week. Although we did miss our parents and carers being able to join us. We made lots of lovely festive bits and pieces and listened to fun music. Photos to follow..............

WB: 29.11.21

In Maths, we worked with Mrs Irving on practical activities to help us remember our previous learning about fractions.

WB: 22.11.21

In Art this week we looked at patterns in nature. It was amazing where we found the most beautiful patterns. We will use them next week to decorate our illuminated letters.

WB: 15.11.21

Things have been a little different this week as Mrs Lynch has been unable to be in school due to her daughter being ill. But we have been really well-behaved for Miss Butcher and have completed some super biographies based on the life of Louis Sachar. We found out about his inspiration for characters (one was his wife!), and why he felt so strongly about mental health and well-being.

In Maths, wew continued our work on division methods - it's tricky stuff, but we're getting there!

Sadly, we had to cancel our Forest School this week, but watch this space......

WB: 8.11.21

This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from author L.D Lapinski - writer of the Strangeworld Travel Agency series. She told us about how she helps herself with ideas and what inspired her to become a writer, then achieve it.

WB: 1.11.21

We thought Mrs Lynch had lost the plot when she got us drawing on tables and playing with shiny stones and other bits and pieces in Maths this week. It turns out, that while we were having fun, we were also reminding ourselves of what we are actually doing to numbers when we are dividing! From this, we were able to learn how to do short division of numbers up to 4-digits by 1 digit. Next step, is how to apply this to real-life problems.

In Science this week, we began our new unit "Living Things and Their Habitats". We have a class full of animal lovers, so the activity today about developing our own method of classification prompted much discussion.

We've started our new class novel this wweek. The curiously named "There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom" by Louis Sachar. This week we have started to get to know the main character, Bradley and we have begun to understand why he behaves the way he does. Perhaps we should be a little more understanding of people.
