Week 6- 6.12.21-10.12.21
The children have completed lots of fun activities over the last few weeks. We have started our money topic, we are able to find money in a couple of different ways. The children have absolutely loved being able to use practical money. We have also given them the opportunity to play shops so that they can put what they have learnt into practice. They also have had forest school last week, where they went on a scavenger hunt to find the pieces of their food chain. They then toasted marshmallows over the fire and had hot chocolate. I am sure you can tell from the photos that they had a great time.
This week was our Christmas crafts, we had lots of fun sing and making lots of different crafts. We have also been practicing our nativity songs and we can't wait for you to see the video.

We have had lots of fun thinking of adjectives to add into our sentences to make them more interesting for the reader. The children have also learnt about expanded noun phrases, this is where 2 adjectives come before the noun.
In Maths this week we have been learning column addition, we all were able to complete this with and without regrouping. We have also been adding on an empty number line this week.
In Geography we have learnt our 7 continents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6DSMZ8b3LE We were also able to located and label them on a world map. In RE this week we have started our new topic on Christmas Celebrations. We discussed what we celebrate and what special foods we eat during this time. In Music with Mrs Hibberd the children learnt a rap song and added actions then performed it as a class.
1st - 5th November 2021 - Week 1
This week at Forest School we went to the dene for the first time. We enjoyed walking over the bridge across the A1 looking at the cars. Once we got to the dene we began to look for different types of habitats. We spotted birds nests high up in the trees, we also found hollows in trees. We also found burrows in the ground. The children loved exploring the dene. We then discussed micro-habitats and why animals like different types of homes. The children went bug hunting and collected all the bugs they could find. We made a bug hotel using sticks and leaves and released our bugs back into their natural habitat. As a class we made a hedgehog house. We made this out of big sticks to make a ti-pi and then covered in leaves.
