It is so good to be back. Lots of Christmas fun, plus changes to our routines this week. The children have coped really well with this, we have had Christmas craft afternoon, dress rehearsal for filming of the Nativity songs next week and Mr Burns last day with us. Take a look at some of our learning and fun over the last few weeks.
Next week the children will be in uniform MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY. On THURSDAY the children can wear party clothes to school for our Christmas party (the children DO NOT need to bring in food).
Friday 19th November - Week 3 - Autumn 2
This week in Maths the children have been learning their number bonds to 10 in lots of different ways, practically, writing down the number sentences and of by heart. Well done Year 1, but keep practising.
In English we have continued to enjoy the Winnie the Witch collection of stories and the children were writing some describing sentences for Winnie's house. Some children even managed to sequence their sentences for write the opening of a story, introducing Winnie's house. We also had a lesson on letter formation to try and correct some of our mistakes.
The children have enjoyed computing this afternoon, they are learning to develop their keyboard skills on:

Friday 12th November - Week 2 - Autumn term 2
Lots going on this week in Year 1, we've learnt about Remembrance Day in our history lesson, properties of materials in science, story openers in English and number sentences in Mathematics. The children have also completed 1:1 and guided reading sessions, Lexia sessions and small group with our student teacher, Mr Burns.
Friday 5th November - Week 1 - Autumn 2
Welcome back to the first week of the new term... Autumn 2. There is going to be lots going on in the run up to Christmas, please can all children bring in their Reading book to be changed on a Thursday (we didn't have many returned this week). Spellings and homework have been given out to Y1 on Seesaw today, please see me if you have any problems accessing this.
This week we have been learning all about the season we are in... Autumn. In Science we went to Forest School and observed all of the changes to the trees, weather and the day in the Autumn season. The children found out why the leaves turn different colours and they created a leaf rainbow. They then created a clay model of my face using Autumn materials, berries for eyes, leaves for hair and some children even gave me a moustache.
In Maths, we have begun our addition and subtraction unit and the children have been using part part whole models to add amounts together.
