On Tuesday we have Forest School so please wrap up warm as we will be outside for long periods.

Week beginning 29th November

Christmas Craft Morning is Wednesday 1st December. Your child can wear a Christmas

t-shirt or jumper and any Christmas accessories.

This week in the lead up to Christmas Craft morning we will be reading Stick Man by Julia Donaldson and completing lots of exciting activities related to the story.

In Maths we will be understanding that when comparing numbers, one quantity can be more than, the same as or fewer than another. We will develop the understanding that all numbers are made up of smaller numbers and will notice how numbers can be composed of 2 parts or more than 2 parts.

Having completed teaching of all Set 1 Speed sounds in our phonics sessions we will be revising these sounds and using them to segment and blend simple words. It is very important that the children practice reading and saying these sounds as often as possible and your support at home is invaluable.

Those children who are ready will begin reading the RWI Red Ditty books and other children will receive additional support with learning their sounds.

Week beginning November 22nd

This week we will be reading a lovely story called Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. Autumn has come, the wind is gusting, and Leaf Man is on the move. Is he drifting east, over the marsh and ducks and geese? Or is he heading west, above the orchards, prairie meadows, and spotted cows? No one's quite sure, but this much is certain: A Leaf Man's got to go where the wind blows.

In Maths we will be introducing zero and understanding that when comparing numbers, one quantity can be more than, the same as or fewer than another.

In RWI we will be completing Set 1 Speed Sounds by introducing qu, x, ng and nk.

Week beginning November 15th

This week we will begin a new topic of Why Does a Squirrel Hide it's Nuts? We will be learning about the transistion from Autumn to Winter and will look at hibernation. We will be reading Squirrel's Autumn Search by Anita Loughrey.

In Maths we will be having fun with shapes which have four sides and we will be finding them in our environment.

In RWI we will focus on the Speed Sounds th, z and ch as well as revising all previously taught sounds.

Week beginning Nov 8th

To mark Remembrance Day we have talked about the importance of poppies and we watched two short videos which helped the children to understand.
