Autumn 2

Happy Christmas everyone!

Friday 13th December - Christmas Crafts

Thanks to all the parents, carers and family friends who attended our Christmas Craft morning today! The children had a wonderful time and they've made some beautiful things. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and learning from one another.

Thursday 5th December

One of the highlights of this week was the visit we had from Reverend Sarah Moon, who came in to talk to Year 4 about pilgrimage as part of our R.E. learning. Having made several pilgrimages herself, she had a great deal of insight and knowledge to share with us. Some interesting themes emerged from the discussion, like friendship, mindfulness, and paying attention to our environment. And one of our pupils got dressed up for a pilgrimage in the North East... A wonderful afternoon!

Friday 29th November

What is sound? How does it travel? This week, Year 4 set out to investigate, using an array of tools and techniques from a string telephone to a human chain. One intrepid scientist even conducted an experiment at home, transmitting sound along a slinky. We had a go in the classroom and it works brilliantly! Superb explorations.

Friday 22nd November

It has been a wonderful week for writing at Waverley, so it is a good time to showcase some of Year 4's superb work in English. This week, we have been writing and performing scripts, and blasting through the grammar curriculum in a whirlwind round of 'Word Buckets'. The children's depth of knowledge is marvellous!

Friday 15th November

There has been an international flavour to learning in Year 4 this week, as the children have been on a Buddhist pilgrimage across India and a walk through the French countryside, all without leaving the classroom! We've also been exploring sound in science and building up our coding skills in computing. Well done everyone - some great progress this week.

Friday 8th November

It has been a truly outstanding week in Year 4! Some lovely moments were shared during our Children in Need painting afternoon - thank you to all of the parents who attended, and everyone who has supported the event. We also had the privilege of a visit from the UK Parliament education officer, who delivered a fascinating assembly and led a mock parliamentary debate session that was brilliant fun and really informative. A genuinely eye-opening experience for the class!
