Friday 29th November - Week 4 - Autumn 2
Wonderful story writing this week from Year 1, each and every child tried their hardest to write some sentences about our class story of the week, using their story map and plans to help. Our story of the week was Winnie's Amazing Pumpkin and the children can't wait to share their stories with Year 6 on Monday.
Week 2 - Autumn Term 2
Today was Children in Need day, the children came into school dressed in their T-Shirts, that they made during our parent event last week. They looked fantastic. We talked about why we have Children in Need day and what it means.
We also had a Castle day in the Gym, where the children made their own Waverley Coat of Arms, we learnt a medieval dance, dressed up in Role-play costumes and had our own medieval feast (the children loved the mince pies).
Friday 8th November - Week 1 - Autumn Term 2
We have had the busiest starts to the Autumn term 2. This week we have had a Pudsey T-Shirt craft event, a trip to the church, photographs and the Nurse from the RVI came to give some children their Flu Nasal Sprays. In between all of the activities we have started a new topic in English... looking at a collection of stories by Valerie Thomas called Winnie the Witch. The children have enjoyed listening to and joining in with this story in English and reading the collection independently in the Reading Corner. In Maths this week, we have started teaching a new unit of Addition and Subtraction. We have been looking at Part, Part, Whole Models and writing addition sentences using the correct symbols.
The children were very excited to go to our local church, on Friday and watch the Vicar Baptise baby Abigail. We have been learning all about Baptisms in our RE lessons. We chose a name for our baby, chose Parents and God Parents for our baby and we were able to ask the vicar some questions about what happens at a Baptism and why. We also had the opportunity to explore the church.
Monday 4th November - Week 1 - Autumn Term 2
Welcome back to a new term and the second half of the Autumn term. Please can all children have their PE kits in school on a Wednesday afternoon and their book bags in school everyday so that letters, reading books and homework do not go missing.
Please could you send a water bottle into school everyday so that children can independently get a drink of water, whenever they wish, throughout the day.
