We have now completed our Minibeast topic, the children have loved all things bugs this term.... we now even have a minibeast hotel in our outdoor area. In the Summer term 2 we will be learning all about Under the Sea, Pirates and The Circus. If the children have any stories relating to these topics they wish to bring into school, we can share them with the class. Thank you for your continued support.

6th May - Summer Term 1 - Week 3

This term we have been learning all about Minibeasts, their names, their features and their habitats. In Literacy we have been reading the stories Tadpoles, Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell and Aaaaargh Spider. In the last two weeks before the holidays we will be continuing our Minibeast topic and reading the stories... The Crunching Munching Caterpillar and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

In Maths this week, the children have been introduced to doubling. They were practically doubling amounts in lots of different ways, doubling dog biscuits in two bowls, doubling marshmallows in two cups of hot chocolate (only pretend unfortunately), doubling using the Numicon and doubling the spots on ladybirds. The children made so much progress in this some children were even challenged to record the number sentence.
This week as a class we tried Yoga, the children all enjoyed joining in with a story telling Yoga session of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. As the children were experimenting moving in different ways they were joining in with the familiar phrases of the story....."but he was still hungry."
