French at Waverley Primary School
At Waverley the children in Key Stage 2 are taught French as their MFL. We use the Catherine Cheater Golden daffodils scheme of work which introduces the children to French in a progressive and fun way. The scheme incorporates all of the elements required by the MFL National Curriculum. The children will be introduced to a wide variety of vocabulary which they will use to construct sentences. They will then go on to record these. They will also be introduced to grammatical features and begin to develop an understanding of masculine and feminine words. There are lots of opportunities to find out about French culture through rhymes, poems, stories and music.
