Butterflies - Mrs Brickwood

Welcome back to school after the snow.  I hope you all managed to stay safe and warm.  This week in class our topic will be The Enormous Turnip.  We will be reading the story, grow cress, make egg and cress sandwiches, cutting out masks, painting and so much more. Stay tuned for all of the action in our class.

Week Beginning 12th March.

This week we will be continuing with out topic The Enormous Turnip. The children will be planting sunflowers and finding out how to look after growing plants. hopefully we will be enjoying the cress the children grew last week in egg and cress sandwiches. In Literacy we will be focusing on fine motor skills such as pencil control and grip. In Maths we will be looking at different shapes and naming them. If you can support your child with this at home it will help them progress at a faster rate. Thank you for your support. 

 

Week Beginning 12th March.

This week we will be starting our topic on Easter. The children will be finding out about different aspects of Easter celebrations. We will be focusing on counting and number recognition in Maths. We will also be continuing activities on shape. In Literacy we will be practicing pencil grip, mark making control and using scissors safely. We will be making Easter crafts to decorate our classroom and take home. We will also be looking after our sunflower seeds we planted last week. A fun and busy week lies ahead!

Week beginning 16th April.

Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely holiday. Our topic for the next two weeks is Under the Sea. The children will be creating fish collages, painting and reading lots of fishy stories. In Maths the children will be focusing on counting and number recognition. In Literacy the children will be focusing on pencil control and writing their names. If you can support your child with any of these activities at home it will aid their progress. Thank you for your support. 

Week beginning 30th April.

For the next 3 weeks our topic will be the Hungry Caterpillar. The children will be creating their own hungry caterpillars for display in the classroom. In Literacy the children will be listening to the story of the Hungry Caterpillar as well as other exciting tales. We will be focusing on pencil control when formimg letters and when the children are writing their names. Last week in Maths I introduced Ten Town, a new scheme to aid number recognision and formation through songs, rhymes and stories. The children really enjoyed the activities and learning about the characters and this will be continued throughout the summer term. If you can support your child with any activities at home it will help them progress. Thank you for your support.   

After a very busy half term I hope everyone has a happy and fun holiday and I look forward to see you all at the start of the new half term.
